Abstract

Food insecurity and lack of employment handicap human health in general, especially pregnant women. This work focused on the impact of malnutrition on the health of pregnant women in Bugorhe. To test our hypotheses, we took a sample of 177 subjects, from November 2025 to February 2026, four months. The general objective is to know the impact of malnutrition on the health of pregnant women in Bugorhe. Specific objectives: Identify malnourished pregnant women based on anthropometry; identify the causes and consequences of malnutrition in pregnant women; Conduct a field survey. We used the historical, analytical, and statistical method. To access the results, we submitted a survey questionnaire, also carried out anthropometric measurements on these women we met during the CPN sessions. We used the interview with illiterates to collect their opinions. Indeed, 71% of our respondents showed that malnutrition has a negative impact and is explained by spontaneous abortions, stillborns, the low weight of the newborn; 78% of our respondents confirmed that malnutrition exists, due to inaccessibility to sufficient nutritious foods and weight loss. 49% confirmed that the factors behind malnutrition are unemployment and low household income. 42% mentioned strategies to reduce malnutrition among pregnant women, like the construction of a nutritional supervision center, the implementation of a good agricultural policy, the creation of employment for the population. Thus, women who have an adequate diet are at less risk during pregnancy and childbirth, and the old adage says “that you have to eat to live”. (Aminou, Am. 2023).
